Kerri Sassen

Hi! I'm Kerri. I have been creative since I can remember. I did art in school and whenever I've attended art classes in my life - all I know is that time pauses/flies and I feel so completely - me. Everytime anyone has ever asked me about myself, my answer has always been something about loving people. I have this deep desire and appreciation for connection. I love meeting and making new friends. I love listening to long voice-note-pod-casts from old friends all over the world. I can't imagine going through the good or the hard in life without processing it with my people. I also love to laugh out loud a lot.

So combining people and creativity, I feel like that's a good description of me.

My work has been described as: light; happy; sometimes whimsical and a bit quirky - a celebration of all that is good. I have often been drawn to creams, greens, leaves and flowers. Lately, since becoming a mother, there is a lot more colour and human-ness in my work (read: little scribbles from a 2-year-old!).

I'm also an Occupational Therapist and before having children, I'd say that this was where I found most of my identity (ha! nothing like becoming a Mom and having it all thrown on it's head!). But it was work and it accounted for most of my daytime hours: most of the saddest things I've ever seen but also most of the wonderful things too. I'd like to think that these past experiences somehow seep through into my current work - that there is warmth and empathy there.
